Why do some brands stand out from others? How do powerful brands get built? These are some of the questions that founders of young startups often grapple with. In the latest session of Lightbox Espresso, Raja Ganapathy, founding partner at Spring Marketing Capital, answers many of those questions drawing on his extensive experience working with a multitude of brands over nearly three decades.

Building a powerful, relatable brand is almost as challenging as building a business. Companies, especially startups often struggle with the former largely because the process of building a brand takes much more than cold data and statistics. Yet the two are inextricably related.

In the latest session of Lightbox Espresso, Raja Ganapathy joined us to talk about his learnings from building multiple brands over a nearly three-decade career. Ganapathy founded Spring Marketing Capital in 2019 with Arun Iyer and Vineet Gupta to help startups think through their brand journeys in a holistic fashion rather than in isolation to company building. Spring, based in Mumbai, offers early stages companies that have raised venture capital brand consulting services along with significant investment capital.

Prior to Spring, Ganapathy was with Ogilvy and Brand David, where he worked with brands such as Bharatmatriomony and Royal Enfield. His most defining stint was with Sequoia Capital where as chief marketing officer he worked with brands such as Byju's Learning App, Cars24, Daily Hunt, Rebel Foods, CitrusPay and Freecharge.

In this session, Ganapathy talks about why some brands stand out from others, how powerful brands get built, the power of storytelling and much more. Watch the video for the full session.
